Prolific

Overview

The Prolific is the foundational biological catalyst for all mobile life within the Vita Filorum network. It serves as the primary spawning matrix - a bizarre, fleshy, botanical structure that acts as the womb for the ecosystem's fauna.

When a Dispatcher releases its smoke-like seeds into the wind, the environmental outcome depends entirely on the payload. Simple seeds will take root and grow directly into static flora, such as Tether Sensors or the Ivy Skulk. However, if the seed is genetically coded for fauna, it will not grow the creature directly. Instead, it aggressively roots into the soil and rapidly germinates into a Prolific. Once mature, living creatures begin to grow on the Prolific's specialised buds, hanging and developing from the structure exactly like biological fruit.

Operation Protocols

The Prolific is a passive but incredibly vital entity. Because it is highly vulnerable and expends massive amounts of energy gestating complex life, it is heavily guarded and deeply integrated into the local Singularity network. In certain situations, a Singularity can instruct a Prolific to produce a certain Filorum on command for its own needs.

Gestation & Rarity

• Complexity Ratios: The ecosystem dictates that the Prolific operates on a strict energy economy. Creatures are grown and "harvested" based on their complexity and the network's current biological reserves. For example, simple, low-energy workers are mass-produced (typically yielding 10 Svetes per cycle), while highly complex or specialised entities take much longer to gestate (yielding only 1 Seeker for every 10 Svetes).
• Maturation Drop: Once a creature has fully gestated inside its fleshy bud, the pod bursts open. The creature is born already tethered to the broader network via the Prolific's root system, dropping to the ground ready to fulfil its biological imperative.

The Warden Protocol

• Immediate Submersion: Because the Prolific is a high-value target and completely defenceless, it naturally gestates its own bodyguards. When a Warden is born from a Prolific, its life cycle is uniquely abrupt. The moment the massive, bear-like creature drops from its heavy gestation pod, it does not wander or explore. Instead, driven by an innate, hardwired network command, it immediately and violently burrows straight into the ground beneath the Prolific.
• Root-Locking: Once submerged, the newborn Warden anchors its incredibly short, 5-meter tether to the Prolific's deep roots and enters its dormant, subterranean state, waiting silently in the dark until the network calls it to defend its birthplace.

Interaction Logic

Because the Prolific lacks a central nervous system for decision-making, it relies entirely on the Singularity to dictate its nutrient flow and gestation priorities.

• Growth Acceleration: If the network suffers heavy losses (e.g., an infiltration team is wiped out), the Singularity can push a massive influx of voltage and nutrients to the Prolific to force the rapid gestation of replacement fauna: STY-NTR-EFF$PLF-ACA-M.
• Maturation Sync: When a complex entity (like a Seeker or Warden) is fully grown and successfully drops from the bud, the Prolific sends an inward sync pulse to update the network's available "roster" of units: PLF-SYS-AFF-SYC-L.
• Defensive Trigger: If the Prolific itself is physically disturbed before the Singularity can react, the tension on its roots instantly rips the surrounding Wardens out of the dirt to maul the threat: PLF-INT-DCT$WRD-DEF-M.
• Singularity Integration: When receiving an PLF-INT-EFF-RPR$SRK-M it will produce on command a Seeker at a medium priority.
